Starting December 27, at least one location of KFC in the United Kingdom will sell a variety of vegan options, according to an unnamed KFC employee. The new launch—which was shared on Facebook group Vegan Food UK and by @the_vegan_buddhist on Instagram this week—will last for at least six weeks and include a vegan chicken box meal and other options. In preparation for the launch, the employee’s KFC branch has created a dedicated space for the vegan products inside its freezer and refrigerator and will sell the new items from a separate vegan station. KFC UK began developing the vegan “Imposter Burger” last year and worked closely with meatless brand Quorn to perfect the recipe. On June 17, the chain added the vegan burger to its menu at 20 select locations in London, The Midlands, and Bristol in the UK with the intent to test the limited-time option until July 2. However, the Imposter Burger sold out within four days, pulling in 500 percent more in sales than any other new product launch at KFC. Stateside, KFC tested vegan Beyond Fried Chicken at one Atlanta, GA location on August 26—where it sold out in approximately five hours. In Canada, KFC launched vegan chicken made by Lightlife Foods last week, which sold out in six hours, proving that demand for vegan chicken at KFC is stealthily booming worldwide.

VegNews has contacted KFC for further details and will share more information once it becomes available.
