Vegan chef Dino Luciano, the Season 8 winner of reality TV series MasterChef, is launching Italian-inspired vegan restaurant pop-up Stella on November 1 in Toronto. A unique collaboration between Luciano, animation company Lookout, and vegan management company The 5700 Inc. (the company behind Toronto’s Vegandale collection of businesses and the annual Vegandale Food Drink Festival), the three-month-long pop-up will feature a curated menu with dishes such as Bohemian Squash Fettuccine, Cherry Risotto, and cannolis. Luciano, a Brooklyn, NY native who was the first vegan chef to win the MasterChef competition, is eager to provide Torontonians with a style of vegan cuisine that isn’t currently available in the city. “Stella is an Italian-inspired restaurant with a refined palate,” Luciano said. “We are re-conceptualizing traditional Italian food and making it vegan—all without the sacrifice of impressionable flavor.” Located outside Vegandale’s Parkdale neighborhood, Stella will showcase an art deco atmosphere with exposed brick and artwork, providing an intimate dining experience that can accommodate up to 36 guests.
