British vegan brand The Meatless Farm recently pledged to donate 20,000 of its plant-based sausages to nonprofit Help NHS Heroes, which will redistribute them to pop-up supermarkets and cafés erected at hospitals to help healthcare workers within the National Health Service (NHS) network have access to food during the COVID-19 pandemic. “We started this initiative when we saw our hardworking NHS staff were unable to get hold of basic food items after their grueling shifts,” Help NHS Heros Founder Jason Mawer said. “The initial support from companies like Meatless Farm is invaluable. We have had many messages of thanks and expressions of relief about the on-site access from our NHS heroes and we are committed to making this work on a national basis.”

The Meatless Farm—which debuted its products in the United States via 450 Whole Foods Markets last year—is also donating prepared vegan meals, such as spaghetti Bolognese, to hospitals closer to its office headquarters in Leeds and has donated more 7,000 retail packs of Meatless Farm products to FairShare, a charitable redistributor of food to those in need.

Stateside, vegan brand Beyond Meat is currently distributing more than one million free Beyond Burgers to those in need during the pandemic through its Feed A Million+ initiative supported by brand ambassadors such as NBA star Kyrie Irving and comedian Kevin Hart.
