United Kingdom-based burger chain Byron debuted a line of vegan milkshakes, including a decadent “freakshake.” The over-the-top milkshake features coconut milk-based vanilla ice cream, dairy-free whipped cream, and chocolate sauce, and is topped an entire brownie and crumbled brownie pieces from local bakery Vegan Antics. In addition to the freakshake, the chain also added coconut milk-based strawberry and brownie milkshake flavors. In April, Byron launched its first vegan entreé, the Beetnik Burger, made with a beet-based falafel patty. “Since the launch of our new menu, we’re now seeing one in ten customers choosing one of our vegan or vegetarian burgers,” Byron Head of Food Paul Mason said. “The feedback we kept hearing was that our non-dairy drinking fans longed for vegan versions of our extra-thick shakes, so these new additions to the menu means that nobody need miss out.”
