Milwaukee, WI is getting its first-ever Vegan Restaurant Week. From November 3 to 9, restaurants across the city will offer special plant-based menus, events, and tastings in honor of World Vegan Month, which takes place every November.
Wendy Mireles, owner of the Milwaukee Mexican restaurant chain Café Corazón, is the force behind the new event. While Café Corazón isn’t entirely vegan, it offers several plant-based dishes, including tacos, chilaquiles, and tofu scramble. According to Mireles, the goal is to highlight these options, as well as the city’s growing number of vegan and vegan-friendly restaurants.

“Our hope for Milwaukee Vegan Restaurant Week is simple,” she told OnMilwaukee. “We want to shine a bright spotlight on all of the options we have for dining out in our amazing city.”
What’s on offer at Milwaukee Vegan Restaurant Week
In honor of the week, Café Corazón will host a vegan meetup and menu tasting, along with new plant-based specials. And the restaurant chain isn’t alone—nearly 30 restaurants are taking part.
Comet Café, for instance, will serve a plant-based twist on one of its most popular dishes: the Compact Turkey Dinner. Instead of slow-roasted turkey, the vegan special will feature meatless turkey with sage stuffing and plant-based gravy.
Screaming Tuna Sushi will offer a vegan omakase experience, while Tricklebee Café will feature a pay-what-you-can vegan menu and host multiple vegan pop-ups, including Vegan Soul and Solful Kitchen eateries.
“Just like we do at Café Corazón, we don’t want folks to eat our vegan menu items because the dishes are vegan,” she added. “We want guests to love our vegan offerings because they are delicious and just happen to be vegan, as well.”
At Twisted Plants, customers who mention Vegan Restaurant Week will receive a 15 percent discount. At Thai-namite, customers will bag a free vegan spring roll every time they dine in. Popular diner Honeypie Cafe is also set to bring back some of its former plant-based menu items, including The Klug (a jackfruit hoagie) and tofu banh mi.
Other participating local spots include Beans & Barley, Central Standard Crafthouse & Kitchen, Classic Slice, Lucky Ginger, Paloma Taco & Tequila, and many more.

“Grab a friend and discover new-to-you restaurants or visit your longstanding favorites for new flavors,” a post on the event’s social media reads. “This event is for everyone, so whether you’re a veg-head or a meat-eater, you’ll end the week with a full belly and a big smile!”
