Netflix knows that vegan content performs well. You Are What You Eat: A Twin Experiment is a prime example. The documentary, which explored research comparing vegan and omnivorous diets, debuted in January 2024 and quickly became a top-10 hit.

It joined a long list of successful vegan or animal-focused titles on the platform, including Cowspiracy (2014), What the Health (2017), and The Game Changers (2018). And of course, there’s Okja, the 2017 film with strong animal rights themes that many critics called Netflix’s first great movie. The point stands: vegan content performs, and Netflix knows it.

So when news broke that the company was branching into the restaurant world, hopes were high for innovative, exciting plant-based options.

Netflix Bites launched as a pop-up in early 2025 inside the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and is now expanding with new locations in Philadelphia and Dallas, both housed within the immersive Netflix House experiences.

“You can always find a seat at Netflix Bites and enjoy elevated comfort food served with a Netflix twist,” Greg Lombardo, Netflix VP of Experiences, told Food & Wine. “It’s a fun opportunity for fans to get closer to the stories they love, with creative dishes you can only find inside Netflix House.”

But if you’re looking for plant-based food at either the pop-up or the new restaurants, you may be disappointed.

The vegan options at Netflix Bites are surprisingly limited

At the Las Vegas pop-up, there’s just one vegan dish on the menu: the Bridgerton-inspired Queen Charlotte’s Fruit Trees. And let’s be honest: it’s neither innovative nor exciting—it’s a fruit plate. When compared to other themed menu items—such as Ginny & Georgia’s Peaches Foster, Orange Is the New Mac, and the Sex Education Hoagie—it’s clear very little thought was put into plant-based offerings.

Some diners report slightly better luck by telling their server they’re vegan, but only marginally. As one Yelp reviewer wrote in February: “If you’re vegan, be prepared that they only have a couple of options on the menu that they can prepare vegan for you.” Another customer stated that they left entirely due to the lack of plant-based options.

The situation at the new Netflix House restaurants isn’t much better. At the time of writing, the menus for both locations list just one vegan item: the Regency Garden Greens. Yes, it’s basically a salad.

Netflix, if you’re reading this, we know you can do better. You’ve shown time and again that plant-based stories resonate with millions, so why not bring that same energy to your menus? Or at the very least, maybe just add a vegan burger.
