Peet’s Coffee recently launched a limited-time vegan Oat Milk Horchata latte at its 200 locations nationwide. The new latte (which can be ordered hot or iced) is part of its winter 2020 menu and features espresso, oat milk, cinnamon, and Madagascar vanilla—flavors inspired by the nearly thousand-year-old classic horchata recipe, which typically calls for plant-based milk. “As far as dairy-free alternatives go, oat milk has transcended from a trend into a staple,” Patrick Main, Beverage Innovator, Peet’s Coffee, said. “With its creamy body and natural sweetness, it is a perfect ingredient base for espresso. We love how it blends with Madagascar vanilla and ground cinnamon to elevate our new Oat Milk Horchata Latte.” The chain also offers oat, soy, and almond milk as substitutions for dairy. Peet’s is the latest coffee chain to embrace oat milk on its menu. Last week, Stabucks added Oatly’s oat milk to its menu at more than 1,300 Midwest locations and Dunkin’ will introduce an Oatmilk Latte (vegan without modifications) to its national menu this spring.
