Royal Caribbean Adds Vegan Menu Fleet Wide 

This month, the cruise company adds vegan spaghetti bolognese, edamame-stuffed portobello mushrooms, and toffee cheesecake to its main dining room menus.

On August 1, cruise company Royal Caribbean added a three-course vegan menu in the main dining rooms across its fleet. The new menu features several entrees, including edamame-stuffed portobello mushrooms, vegan spaghetti bolognese, and Orzo pasta stew with green vegetables. For dessert, guests can choose a number of options such as toffee cheesecake with dark chocolate and peanut butter crust. While the cruise company previously offered travelers vegan options aboard its ships, the new addition to the main dining room makes vegan food more accessible fleet wide. “At Royal Caribbean, we’re always looking at how to raise the bar of our dining offerings and we do it with one specific purpose: delivering great vacations for our guests,” Linken D’Souza, Vice President of Food & Beverage, Royal Caribbean International, told VegNews. “As the number of people and families adopting a vegan lifestyle continues to grow, we wanted to formalize our vegan offerings in a dedicated menu (available upon request in the Main Dining Room) where guests can explore options and choose their dish—it’s all part of the dining experience. It’s important to us to meet vacationers’ dietary choices.” This year, several major cruise companies have announced major vegan changes to their menus, including Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, which are currently in the process of adding 200 vegan dishes all of their ships.
