Vegan ice cream brand The Chufa Co. recently opened a brick-and-mortar shop inside of a shipping container in Toronto, Canada. The shop sells scoops of its proprietary tigernut milk-based soft serve that was developed by Doug Goff, an “ice-cream scientist” at the University of Guelph in Ontario. In addition to scoops (which can be ordered inside a sugar cone topped with sauces, and sprinkles), the shop offers two sundae options: Strawberry Crunch (made with strawberry sauce and gluten-free sugar cookies) and Cookies ‘N Cream (which features fudge sauce, chocolate cookies, and sprinkles). The brand also sells pints in three flavors (Ground Vanilla Bean, Chocolate Brownie, and Roasted Strawberry & Cardamom) at select Canadian retailers, including YamChops—the first vegan butcher shop to open in North America.
