Coffee chain Starbucks recently added a new vegan dessert and lunch option to its stores in the United Kingdom. The Caramel Chococado Pot is made with a base of avocado mousse, chocolate and coconut yogurt that is layered with silky caramel sauce and topped with cacao nibs—an option that is suitable for vegans according to local outlet Vegan Food UK. The Vegan Spiced Protein Bowl features edamame, lentils, chickpeas, golden bulgur wheat, cumin and harissa spiced beets, and pickled red onions. The new menu additions expand plant-based offerings at Starbucks UK, which currently include several desserts (such as Chocolate & Raspberry Vegan Cake and Vegan Pistachio Slice), and meals (including Vegan Mac, Vegan Beetroot Wrap, and Vegan Smoky Jackfruit and Grains). Starbucks in North America is also planning to add plant-based options. This month, Starbucks added its first plant-based meat option—the Beyond Meat, Cheddar, and Egg Sandwich, which is not vegan but made with plant-based Beyond Breakfast Sausage patties—to the menu at its 1,400 locations across Canada.
