Fast-food chain Tim Hortons has expanded its vegan options once again with the addition of JUST Egg vegan omelettes at select Canadian locations, including in Kitchener-Waterloo and Vaughn. The chain is market testing the mung bean-based egg omelettes—which can be ordered atop breakfast sandwiches for an additional CAD 60¢ (USD 46¢)—with potential for a nationwide rollout in coming weeks. “We are always listening to our guests and testing a wide variety of potential products in select restaurants across the country,” Tim Hortons’ spokeswoman Jane Almeida said. “As you know, we recently introduced our Beyond Meat breakfast sandwiches and Beyond Burger. As we continue to test and get feedback, we will consider expanding plant-based options into other menu items.” Tim Hortons began its foray into offering substantial vegan options in mid-May when it introduced vegan Beyond Breakfast Sausage to select locations before expanding the offering to more than 4,000 locations across Canada in June. Following the success of the vegan breakfast option, it expanded its partnership with Beyond Meat this month by adding the popular Beyond Burger—the chain’s first burger option—to lunch and dinner menus across Canada.
