UK TV Personality Invests in Vegan Bistro
English television host Nick Knowles puts his name behind vegan bistro and wellness retreat.

English home-improvement personality and host of television program DIY SOS Nick Knowles recently invested in vegan bistro O’Joy in Shrewsbury, a city in central England. Vegan Becky Porter first opened the café in 2013 with the goal of helping customers fight anxiety and depression through plant-based food and in-café therapy. After returning from a vegan retreat in Thailand earlier this year, Knowles discovered O’Joy, met Porter, thought it “fit really well with my new vegan philosophy on life,” and decided to get involved. “There’s a nervousness about veganism and vegetarianism; a suspicion of it,” Knowles said. “What I want to do is get people to try it.” The bistro has been renovated and along with menu items such as spring rolls, chickpea casseroles, and chocolate mousse, O’Joy connects customers with therapists to work through mental health issues.
