In May, British brand Moving Mountains Foods will debut its newest innovation: a 10-inch long Frankfurter-style sausage. The company’s new hot dog is made with a base of sunflower seeds, carrots, onion, paprika, and coconut oil. In early 2018, Moving Mountains unveiled the vegan B12 Burger after two years in development. By September 2018, the company’s Beyond Burger-inspired flagship product secured a £1 million ($1.28 million) distribution deal with 413-location pub chain Marston’s. “Following the resounding success of the United Kingdom’s first meatless bleeding burger, our second innovative launch is set to make hot dogs desirable again, giving them a long-deserved revamp,” Moving Mountains founder Simeon Van der Molen said. “Our latest food tech innovation proves that you don’t need a pig to make a dog.” Starting May 10, vegan restaurant Unity Diner in Shoreditch will be the first to offer Moving Mountains’ new sausage—where it will be served with caramelized onions, mustard, and ketchup on a warm bun—before the vegan Frankfurter expands to the retail sector.
