An avocado-based vegan ice cream line made by family-owned Cado Desserts is now available at select Target, Hy-Vee, QFC, and Fred Meyer locations nationwide. Cado debuted its line in 2016 to 90 retailers, including Whole Foods Markets across nine states in the Midwest. “Consumers are tuned in to what is better for them and better for the planet, and it’s great to see that reflected now across [retailers],” Cado co-founder Deb Dowd said. “Cado is unique among dairy-free ice creams, with a creamy, good-fat avocado-base providing a neutral rich canvas for traditional ice cream flavors. We also use organic ingredients and less sugar than traditional ice creams.” The brand currently produces three flavors—Deep Dark Chocolate, Mint Chocolate Chip, and Simply Lemon—and will launch four new, avocado-based varieties next month.
