Dessert-centric event Vegan Cookie Con will take place today in Long Beach, CA. The event features vegan cookie samples, sales, and displays provided by more than 40 vendors. The Cookie Bake-Off will pit bakers against each other to create innovative vegan cookies in two categories (chocolate chip and signature), while the kids area—sponsored by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals youth division PETA Kids—will provide free supplies to decorate cookies. Special activities include an aquafaba meringue workshop with wholesale bakery Baked Vegan Sweets founder Nicole Allen, a cannabidiol (CBD) baking information session by Stoner Girl Farm Sanctuary founder Flower Bullock, and a baking demonstration by Hot for Food YouTube star Lauren Toyota. The event will also feature a VIP milk-and-cookies lounge where guests can enjoy cookies and milk courtesy of vegan brand So Delicious. A percentage of ticket sales for the event will be donated to Plant Based For All, a non-profit organization that provides healthy vegan meals to those in need.
