Toronto, Canada’s newest vegan eatery, Planta Queen, recently launched a vegan dim sum brunch which is now available on weekends. The menu features dishes such as gyoza with scallions, ginger, and coriander; Spinach Shiitake Steamed Dumplings with black beans and ginger chili; Sticky Rice with lotus leaf, mushrooms, water chestnuts, and coriander; and Steamed Bao with spicy “sausage.” Brunch options also include noodle bowls, sushi, wonton, ramen, and specialty teas. The 7,000-square-foot restaurant opened last month, taking over Toronto’s omnivore restaurant Nota Bene, and features vegan Asian cuisine. “Devising the menu for Planta Queen has been a personal labor of love,” David Lee, Executive Chef and co-owner of Planta Restaurants, said. “I am delighted to feature Asian dishes that are so personally familiar to me in a 100-percent plant-based creation. Our goal is to demonstrate to everyone that you can enjoy an exceptional and sustainable meal without the use of any animal products.” Planta Queen is the fourth outpost of the Planta concept restaurants which include fast-casual spin-off Planta Burger in Toronto and Planta South Beach in Miami, FL. In addition to the new dim sum weekend brunch, Planta Queen plans to host specials such as Maki Mondays, Sake-It-To-Me Tuesdays, and Disco & Dumplings Fridays.
