Amsterdam-based vegan fashion house HoodLamb recently debuted its hemp-based Nordic parkas in the United States for its fall/winter 2017 season. The parkas are made with hemp sourced from family-run farms in Northern China and coated in a waterproof material called “Hempulose” made from hemp husks. The coats will be available in several styles, some featuring a faux-fur lining made from HoodLamb’s proprietary material Satifur, which is made from recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Each parka features a Thermore Ecodown, a goose-less lining that provides maximum warmth. HoodLamb began operations in 1993 and donates a percentage of proceeds to animal-rights organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and vegan ocean conservation nonprofit Sea Shepherd. US customers can now shop for HoodLamb’s innovative vegan parkas, wool-free sweaters, and cold-weather accessories (including ear muffs) for both men and women online and in select retail outlets.
