Beverage counter Malk BevBar opened last week in Houston inside of Texas-based modern grocery chain Snap Kitchen. Local vegan milk brand Malk Organics recently partnered with coffee company Greenway Coffee to launch the bar that will serve innovative beverages. “Sure, you can find coffee shops with almond milk or milk alternatives, but they are typically laden with gums, fillers, tons of carbs, and oils,” Malk Organics founder August Vega said. “With Malk BevBar, we are sticking to our motto to keep it simple with no additives.” Malk’s milks—which have a short list of only six ingredients—will be blended into lattes in flavors such as mocha almond and hazelnut-maple pecan, and smoothies featuring cashew milk and maca powder. Malk’s packaged nut-based milks are also available at grocery stores such as Whole Foods Market and Kroger nationwide.
