Car company Volvo will debut new model Polestar 2, its first vegan electric vehicle, in 2020. The new model aims to compete with the Tesla Model 3 and features a panoramic glass roof, two electric motors, Brembo brakes, and an all-vegan interior. “We decided to bring something different to the segment. Our avant-garde design has evolved from Polestar 1 into an edgier, bolder statement,” Maximilian Missoni, head of Design at Polestar, said. “We have also designed a standard vegan interior with progressive textiles that will appeal to the forward-thinking audience who will subscribe to Polestar 2.” The vehicle also integrates smart technology allowing owners to open its doors with their smartphones and use Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play inside the cabin. The launch edition of the Polestar 2 will be offered at a starting price of €59,900 ($67,721) in the United States, China, Canada, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Competing carmaker Audi will begin production on its first vegan electric car, the e-tron GT, in 2020.
