Plant-based wholesaler VEDGEco is giving away free plant-based products to independent restaurants in an effort to help them create new menu options. The company’s new promotion offers the first 1,000 restaurants which sign up for a membership with VEDGEco a $125 credit that can be applied to a variety of its products such as Impossible Burgers, JUST Egg, and Alpha Foods chicken nuggets. “Adding plant-based products to menus is proven to help increase foot traffic and sales,” Trevor Hitch, founder and CEO of VEDGEco, said. “During these very difficult times, we wanted to do our part to make it easy and risk-free for independent restaurants to try plant-based ingredients and expand their menu offerings.”

Vegan Costco

On November 1, 2019 (World Vegan Day), Hitch opened the first VEDGEco vegan wholesale warehouse in Hawaii. After a successful year, the business expanded to serve the lower 48 states. In August 2020, VEDGEco launched an ecommerce platform with shipping facilities on both the East and West Coast, allowing for direct-to-consumer and direct-to-business shipping within one to two days. All products are shipped frozen and packed with eco-friendly, foam-free materials. VEDGEco operates similar to big box retailer Costco offering bulk items to restaurants and consumers at wholesale prices.
