Instacart’s Dairy-Free Searches Jump by 200 Percent

Online food grocer’s annual food report reveals that customers are increasingly searching for dairy-free milk, yogurt, and creamer.

Online grocery company Instacart published its 2016 trend report identifying the company’s top searches along with predictions about what customers will be putting in their cart in 2017. Instacart revealed that non-dairy items experienced the biggest growth in customer searches, with inquiries for the term “non-dairy” up by 222 percent, while terms “non-dairy ice cream” and “dairy-free creamer” increased by 228 percent and 213 percent, respectively. Customers searches for vegan brands such as Califia Farms, CoYo, Kite Hill, NadaMoo!, and New Barn skyrocketed last year, with some experiencing an increase of up to 737 percent. “2017 will usher in more delicious ways to ditch dairy,” the report states, before recommending that customers keep an eye out for products such as cashew-based yogurt by Forager and dairy-free cheese by Daiya Foods. Instacart’s report is in-line with a slew of 2017 trend predictions published by various data analysts that foresee the rapid growth of the dairy-free sector in the coming years.
