Thailand’s largest agribusiness firm, Charoen Pokphand Foods Pcl, will be introducing plant-based meat products this year in response to the growing demand for meatless options. The company plans to roll out products such as ready-to-eat meals and pre-cooked vegan meats in Thailand this year before expanding across the rest of Asia. “There is a global trend of ‘flexitarians’—people who have vegetarian meals once or twice a week,” Chief Executive Prasit Boondoungprasert told Reuters. Last year, vegan pork products Omnipork and Omnimince by Right Treat expanded to Thailand and global restaurant chain Sizzler added new vegan meals to its menu at 30 locations across the country, including Bangkok, Pattaya, and Phuket.
