On April 11 at 10pm EST, new 12-part vegan documentary series Saved by the Barn will debut on Animal Planet. Each hour-long episode will highlight a different animal’s rescue story from 2019, spotlighting each animal’s personality and the heroic, behind-the-scenes efforts of workers at Barn Sanctuary in Chelsea, MI. In 2016, animal activist Dan McKernan and his father, Tom, converted their family farm into a sanctuary that rescues animals from factory farms, natural disasters, and other neglectful or exploitative situations. “Saved By the Barn is going to be a heartwarming and uplifting series that grants everyone permission to fall in love with farmed animals in ways they never knew possible,” Barn Sanctuary Executive Director Kelly Holt told VegNews. “During a challenging and scary time, our show will be a welcome reprieve for families who want a dose of positivity and hope. I can’t wait to see how many people become invested in the lives and care of our incredible family of rescued farm animals.”
