Grocery chain Trader Joe’s is now selling vegan vanilla cupcakes topped with rainbow sprinkles at select stores in California. The cupcakes were initially spotted by eagle-eyed Instagrammer @bigboxvegan earlier this month. Trader Joe’s is currently stocking the cupcakes at its warehouses in Irvine, Stockton, and Fontana in California, which makes them available for store managers to order for locations in those service areas. While vegan cupcakes are not yet nationally available, Trader Joe’s sometimes expands distribution areas of products should they prove popular.

Vegan at Trader Joe’s
While the cupcakes are only available at select locations, Trader Joe’s has increased its vegan dessert options nationwide in recent months with the launch of Cheese-Less “Cheesecakes,” strawberry flavored Non-Dairy Oat Dessert ice cream, Organic Almond Beverage Chocolate Bar (a vegan milk chocolate bar), and seasonal Non Dairy Mint & Chip Bon Bons. Outside of the dessert category, this month, Trader Joe’s launched a Vegan Taco Salad Kit which comes complete with dairy-free ranch dressing. Trader Joe’s is looking to further expand its plant-based product portfolio with the upcoming launch of two vegan dip flavors (tzatziki and caramelized onion) and vegan seafood options.
