Popular Cornwall-based bakery brand Ginsters has reformulated its award-winning vegetarian Cornish pasty sans animal products. The new vegan Cornish pasty was created by Michelin-starred chef Chris Eden and is filled with butternut squash, chickpeas, and roasted red peppers, sweetened with apricots and dates, and spiced with harissa and Moroccan chermoula paste. “We were delighted by the popularity of our Moroccan Vegetable Pasty, which won a Gold Award at this year’s British Pie Awards,” Ginsters Managing Director Kieran Hemsworth told Vegan Food & Living. “We’re really excited to be able to update our recipe into a vegan-friendly edition, while maintaining that incredible flavor. Within our range of products, we aim to provide options to suit everyone’s taste preferences.” The newly veganized version of Ginsters pasty will be available at United Kingdom supermarket chains Tesco, Asda, and Morrisons starting May 20.
