British supermodel Cara Delevingne and her sisters Poppy and Chloe recently launched vegan prosecco brand Della Vite. The sisters created the brand to share their love of the beverage, which has been a family tradition, with fans. “We’ve always spoken about starting a business together but were keen to find something that we could all really get behind and that was equally meaningful to each of us,” Poppy Delevingne—who is also a model—said. “Prosecco has always been our ritual, wherever we were in our lives, laughter and lifelong memories were made over cold glasses of Prosecco so it was the obvious perfect fit for us.”

Solar-powered prosecco

The prosecco is available in two varieties: Della-Vite Prosecco Superiore (DOCG) and Della-Vite Prosecco Treviso (DOC) in the United Kingdom with expanded distribution planned to the United States. While some wines are made with animal-derived fining agents such as albumen (egg whites) or isinglass (fish bladders), Della Vite does not rely on animal-based ingredients or methods in its process. Focused on sustainability, Della Vite (which means “of the vine”) avoids farm machinery in its production process and instead relies on solar-powered energy.

“Placing sustainability first and using agricultural methods that don’t rely heavily on industry is at the core of Della Vite’s values,” Cara Delevingne said. “We spent four months looking for the perfect winery to align with our vision and are so proud to have created two exceptional Proseccos that are both sustainably produced and 100-percent certified vegan.”

Last month, Della Vite won a gold seal at The Drinks Business Big Autumn Tasting, a blind taste-test overseen by three masters in the wine industry. “We are on an exciting journey to change the way you think about Prosecco, and we’re only just getting started,” Cara Delevingne said.

Celebrity vegan winemakers

The Delevingne sisters join a growing list of celebrities to get into the vegan wine business, including supermodel Christie Brinkley (who got her Bellissima Prosecco brand vegan certified last year) and actress Cameron Diaz (who launched vegan wine brand Avaline this summer).
