Plant-based brand Silk will debut vegan single-serve coffee creamers in August. The creamers will be available in Silk’s vanilla flavor and packaged in food-service friendly containers commonly found alongside coffee in restaurants, coffee shops, and hotels, and on airplanes. The brand—known for its plant-based milk and yogurt products—is part of parent company WhiteWave Foods, which was acquired for $12.5 billion by dairy brand Danone last year in its effort to diversify its portfolio with lucrative plant-based companies. Since the acquisition, DanonWave (the newly formed United States arm of the merger) has credited its plant-based brands (which, in addition to Silk, include WhiteWave’s other plant-based companies So Delicious, Vega, and Alpro) for increasing its profits every quarter. Last month, Danone announced that it will add plant-based options to its flagship yogurt brands Activia and Actimel.
