Today, California-based vegan brand Beyond Meat launched its popular Beyond Burger at Lidl supermarkets in Germany, which sold out of the vegan patty immediately, according to local media outlet Focus Money. The discount supermarket chain—which operates more than 10,200 locations across 29 countries—offers the Beyond Burger at a competitive price of €5 ($5.57) per 2-patty pack. A slew of Lidl customers took to social media to reveal that multiple stores have depleted their Beyond Burger stocks on the first day of launch. “I had to go to 3 different stores, they were all sold out!” one burger fan tweeted. “Keep going, is already a success here!” German customers looking for the Beyond Burger can order it from delivery service Gourmondo but only in a 10-pack for €35.90 ($39.98) plus shipping costs. This week, Beyond Meat announced that it would open its first European production facility by 2020 to accommodate anticipated demand in the region. Last summer, Beyond Burger launched in Canada by way of 925 locations of A&W Canada, where it sold more than 90,000 burgers in approximately 72 hours.
