This year, several major grocery chains are promoting vegan options during Thanksgiving thanks to the “ThanksVegan” campaign launched by animal-rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Key Food, Gelson’s, Associated Supermarket Group, MOM’s Organic Market, Vallarta Supermarkets, and Price Chopper—which collectively operate more than 690 stores nationwide—pledged to promote vegan roasts and side dishes during the holiday. Gelson’s—which was the first retailer to offer Impossible Burger last year—is going a step further by placing ThanksVegan signage in store.

PETA spent $100,000 on the ThanksVegan campaign which consists of billboards, bus shelter and television ads, vegan roast giveaways, and more. “PETA’s ThanksVegan campaign celebrates healthy, humane living, because turkeys are just like humans when it comes to wanting to live,” PETA President Ingrid Newkirk said. “We’re set on helping people enjoy a beautiful ThanksVegan that gives everyone something to be thankful for.”

In addition to grocery stores, dozens of restaurants are promoting the campaign with on-site signage urging customers to purchase vegan dishes while meal delivery services Veestro, MamaSezz, Fresh n’ Lean, and Boycemode are promoting ThanksVegan on social media.
