Vegan company Mrs. Goldfarb’s Unreal Deli is rapidly growing the distribution of its deli meats and will soon be stocked by more than 1,000 retailers and restaurants nationwide. The company is best known for its vegan corned beef, which launched at 58 Whole Foods Markets in the Southern Pacific region last year, is available at all Veggie Grill locations, and is currently being tested as part of the Cali Sub sandwich at 16 Quiznos locations in Seattle. Unreal Deli will soon be stocked by a variety of grocery chains (such as H-E-B, Ralphs, and Giant Food), delis, diners, and movie studios, with more distributors in the works. “It’s unbelievable how quickly we have grown. In the grab-and-go section of our region’s Whole Foods alone, we sell 500 sandwiches per week—it’s a top selling sandwich,” Unreal Deli CEO and Founder Jenny Goldfarb said. “The distribution keeps growing—today we’re looking to close deals with Albertsons, Publix, Wegmans, and Loblaws of Canada.”
Last year, Goldfarb appeared on an episode of reality series Shark Tank where investor Mark Cuban—who has since gone vegetarian—invested $250,000 in exchange for 20 percent of the company. Now, Cuban predicts that Unreal Deli will generate $50 million in sales this year, a sizable return on his investment. “Unreal Deli is exceeding expectations as they pivot into retail, creating new products, bringing on new accounts in food service, grocery, even internationally—all during a pandemic,” Cuban said. “I’m very excited for how this company will grow over the coming year. Keep a lookout for the finest plant-based deli meat to hit your local grocers and restaurants.”
In addition to vegan corned beef, Unreal Deli also offers vegan roasted turkey slices, chicken strips, beef crumbles, and taco meat. “Just like burger lovers may seek out plant-based alternatives, deli aficionados can now also have a product that is, in the best sense, Unreal,” Goldfarb said.
