Rooney Mara Sets Red Carpet Trend with Vegan Leather Harness

On Saturday, vegan actress Rooney Mara wore a trendsetting vegan leather harness—made by her own fashion label Hiraeth—over a simple white dress at the Animal Equality Inspiring Global Action Gala in Beverly Hills. “While we’ve seen the harness begin to trend in a more casual context, where ‘It’ girls have layered them up with T-shirts and jeans,” Vogue writer Christian Allaire wrote, “this provocative foray into the red carpet world à la Mara is a first—and it works.” Mara and her friend Sara Schloat launched the luxury fashion line in February, pieces from which have since become a red-carpet go-to for Stranger Things’ vegan starlet Sadie Sink. In addition to Mara, a number of celebrities attended the gala to support Animal Equality’s efforts to end animal exploitation, including Moby, Kat Von D, Daisy Fuentes, Rooney’s sister Kate Mara, and Evanna Lynch.
