Grocery chain Trader Joe’s recently launched the Vegan Taco Salad Kit which comes complete with dairy-free ranch dressing. The new kit includes chipotle-spiced seitan, pico de gallo, lettuce, purple cabbage, carrot strips, purple tortilla chips, and a spicy, jalapeño-spiked vegan ranch dressing. In 2018, Trader Joe’s launched a limited-edition veggie tray that included a coconut milk-based ranch dip which the store relaunched as a stand-alone vegan ranch dressing and dip in 2019.
Vegan at Trader Joe’s
The new salad joins a variety of recently launched vegan options at the popular retailer, including beef and turkey flavors of its vegan Protein Patties, refrigerated Vegan Mac and Cheese, and a line of vegan cheese shreds and slices in cheddar and mozzarella flavors. For dessert, the chain now offers Cheese-less Cheesecakes, vegan Non Dairy Mint & Chip Bon Bons, and a vegan milk chocolate bar made with its Almond Beverage.
More vegan options to come
The store is actively working to increase its vegan options, according to Trader Joe’s insiders. On a recent episode of its podcast “Inside Trader Joe’s,” executives working in new product development and purchasing revealed that Trader Joe’s will launch two vegan dips in 2021: tzatziki and caramelized onion. The store is also looking to fill gaps in its vegan inventory, with plant-based seafood options and new iterations of its existing vegan meats and additional vegan frozen meals on the way.
