1. New Bleeding Vegan Burger Debuts at Costco
The big box store began carrying Don Lee Farms’ organic, plant-based frozen “bleeding” patties as a healthier alternative to a raw beef burger, and you ate up the news faster than customers ate up the actual burgers.

2. Vegan Beyond Meat Debuts at Del Taco
Del Taco made history by adding Beyond Meat vegan crumbles to its menu at two Los Angeles test locations—and it was met with rave reviews. The chain is now planning to expand the offering to 16 locations across the San Diego region, and to expand nationwide. Taco bout a success!

3. Starbucks Debuts Vegan Nutella-Inspired Macchiato
The international coffeehouse is slowly beginning to cater to vegan demand, and the default-vegan Hazelnut Mocha Coconutmilk Macchiato proves it.

4. Wu-Tang Clan Partners with White Castle to Promote Vegan Impossible Slider
Iconic hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan partnered with White Castle to promote the nationwide expansion of the chain’s new, mini vegan-friendly burger.

5. “Vegan Amazon” Debuts with 4,500 Products and Major Plans to Expand
Online marketplace Billion Vegans launched this year with 4,500 vegan products on its digital shop, including brands such as Daiya Foods, Clif Bar, and Silk.

6. Ben & Jerry’s Debuts Two New Vegan Ice Cream Flavors
Ben & Jerry’s had us all screaming for the two new non-dairy flavors it launched this year: Peanut Butter Half Baked and Cinnamon Buns.

7. Chef Resigns After Serving Dairy to Vegans On Purpose
This wild story began with Chef Laura Goodman admitting to knowingly serving animal products to vegan diners at Italian restaurant Carlini. After immediate global backlash, Goodman resigned. Can’t say we’ll miss ya, Laura!

8. Beyoncé Urges 112 Million Fans to Go Vegan for Coachella
In the days leading up to her Coachella performance, Queen Bey announced her plan to prepare with a (short-term) plant-based diet to her 112 million Instagram followers.

9. Costco Sells 1 Million Vegan Burgers in 60 Days
After the debut of Don Lee Farms’ plant-based “bleeding” patties at its stores, Costco announced they’d sold 1 million burgers in 60 days. VegNews was responsible for only about 300,000 of those.

10. Researchers Uncover Plant-Based B12 Breakthrough
Researchers at the University of Kent in England found that cress, a common garden herb, can be used to prevent vitamin B12 deficiency. To the power of plants!
