Restaurant chain Ruby Tuesday will add the vegan Awesome Burger to its more than 450 locations nationwide from January 18 until mid-March. As part of a special promotion on January 17, the burger—made by vegetarian brand Sweet Earth—will be available for $5 for a one-day period. Thereafter, the patty will be an off-menu item that can be ordered as a vegan substitute in any Ruby Tuesday’s burger. “At Ruby Tuesday, our focus is to provide freshly prepared, high-quality meal options that are full of flavor at an affordable price,” Jenifer Boyd Harmon, Chief Marketing Officer for Ruby Tuesday, said. “We know many of our customers have an appetite for delicious meat-free options, which is why we’re excited to partner with Sweet Earth Foods to offer a plant-based, meatless burger that not only mimics the look and taste of a traditional burger but also boasts great flavor every burger lover can appreciate.” Ruby Tuesday will consider adding the burger to its permanent menu after the limited run. Sweet Earth—which Nestlé acquired for an undisclosed amount in 2017—debuted the yellow pea-based Awesome Burger and Awesome Grounds at select retailers last September before expanding to Costco locations in Texas and the Midwest in November.
