Conagra brand Healthy Choice recently added vegan options to its Power Bowls line. The vegan all-in-one meals come in two flavors: Falafel & Tahini (made with falafel, red onions, tomatoes, chard, kale, spinach, a blend of grains, and a sesame tahini sauce) and Cauliflower Curry (made with lentils, cauliflower, chard, kale, spinach, a blend of grains, and a spicy curry sauce). “More and more consumers, especially millennials, are looking for vegetarian and vegan options as a way to cut back on their meat consumption or to support their vegetarian/vegan lifestyles,” Healthy Choice brand manager Ian Cruse told VegNews. “However, consumers want these meals to deliver a good amount of protein and taste great. This presents a tremendous growth opportunity for us.” The new vegan Healthy Choice Power Bowls (offered at the suggested retail price of $3.99) have shipped to retailers Hyvee, Giant Eagle, and Target and will appear in additional stores—including Wegman’s, Meijer, HEB, and Publix—throughout March and April. Meat-centric brand Tyson Foods announced in February that it would debut its vegan line Green Street this year, which will feature plant-based bowls and snacks.
