This week, music legend Beyoncé Knowles-Carter released a promotional video for 22 Days Nutrition—a vegan brand founded by nutritionist Marco Borges that she and husband Jay-Z have been investors in since 2015. In the video, Knowles-Carter documents her weight loss and fitness journey as she prepared to return to the stage to headline last year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. After giving birth to twins Sir and Rumi Carter, the singer weighed 175 pounds before adopting a plant-based diet to help achieve her goals. “I was a woman that felt like my body was not mine,” Carter-Knowles said in the video. Borges is shown speaking to the singer and her crew about the importance of consuming a whole foods, plant-based diet, stating, “these little things that help empower us are going to make us stronger.” In the 44 days leading up to Coachella, Knowles-Carter shared her intent to go plant-based with her 112 million social media fans, urging them to do the same. Since then, the singer has promoted various campaigns linked to 22 Days Nutrition, including “The Greenprint”—a multi-faceted project that includes book The Greenprint: Plant-Based Diet, Best Body, Better World, digital tools such as plant-based meal plans, and a documentary slated for release this fall.
