Starting in April, food technology startup JUST will debut a folded JUST Egg vegan omelette in the frozen section at retailers nationwide, including Whole Foods Markets, select Albertsons Safeway stores, Gelson’s Markets in Southern California, Stop & Shop in the Northeast, Kings Food Markets in the New York metro area, and Giant Martin’s in the Mid-Atlantic—with more to come for a total of approximately 5,000 stores. The new product is a fluffy, folded vegan egg omelette made with its mung bean-based JUST Egg which will be available in an 8-ounce pack of four omelettes for a suggested retail price of $4.99. The new product—which will also be available to restaurants and other food service providers—can be used as a breakfast sandwich filling, a topping for rice or salad, amongst other applications. JUST Egg debuted in the retail sector in 2018 and has sold the vegan equivalent of 20 million eggs to date through retailers (such as Walmart, Kroger, and Costco) and food service providers, including college campuses, resorts, amusement parks, and fast-food chains such as Tim Hortons, Le Pain Quotidien, and Bareburger. “2020 is the year that our work to build a world-class technology platform and compelling brand is being realized,” JUST CEO Josh Tetrick said. “It’s humbling to see the overwhelming response to our team’s hard work.”
