Iconic publication Time recently released its list titled, “Best Inventions 2018,” and the vegan Beyond Sausage made the cut. “In recent years, alternative beef—aka real-seeming burger patties made from plant oils and proteins—has started popping up on menus at restaurants from Bareburger to White Castle,” Time writer Alejandro De La Garza stated. “Now Beyond Meat, the company behind the Beyond Burger, is experimenting with a different alternative-meat product: sausage. Its new Beyond Sausage looks and tastes surprisingly close to the real thing.” In addition to the vegan sausage, Time spotlighted 49 other inventions, including 3D-printed houses made by Texas startup ICON to alleviate homelessness, tech brand Aira’s “on-demand” streaming service to help blind people complete daily tasks, and the iRoomba7—a vacuum cleaner that empties itself.
