Tesla’s senior vice president of energy operations, Sanjay Shah, recently left the electric car manufacturer to join vegan company Beyond Meat as its chief operating officer. Shah, who is taking on the responsibilities of overseeing Beyond Meat’s global operations and production, previously held leadership roles at Amazon, including as vice president of North American fulfillment centers. “Sanjay brings a wealth of experience in scaling and operating very high growth businesses, none more important in our consideration than Amazon, where Sanjay managed a majority percentage of North American fulfillment over the course of his career,” Beyond Meat President and CEO Ethan Brown said. “Sanjay’s focus on making operational excellence a sustained competitive advantage, his experience in and appetite for global expansion, along with shared values and a tireless work ethic, makes him a welcome addition to the Beyond Meat family.” Earlier this year, the pioneering vegan brand went public and has quickly expanded availability of its popular Beyond Burger and other products to large fast-food chains such as Dunkin’, Del Taco, Carl’s Jr., Tim Hortons, and A&W. The brand is also currently developing vegan bacon but has yet to disclose the launch date.
