Let’s not kid ourselves—every season is ice cream season. But as the temperatures rise and the sun shines bright, the craving for this sweet frozen treat is in full-force. There’s no way we’re going to deny ourselves a regular vegan scoop or two. And if you’re in the market for low-calorie options (no shade to the delicious, high calorie stuff), there is plenty out there for you.

What is low-calorie vegan ice cream?

Once only available in dairy options, the low-calorie ice cream trend has captured the vegan market, allowing everyone to have their cake (er … ice cream) and eat it, too. Quite simply, this is just regular vegan ice cream, but it’s low in calories—all of the options below are under 650 calories per pint. Get ready to stock up.

5 low-calorie vegan ice cream pints to try right now

1 Cado

These low-calorie pints owe their creaminess to avocados. Made without corn syrup or artificial sweeteners, Cado’s delectable pints range from 220 to 230 calories per serving. The line, which is entirely dairy-free, includes 10 gotta-have-it flavors such as Java Chip, Simply Lemon, and Chocolate Mud Pie.

2 So Delicious

We’re longtime fans of So Delicious—the iconic brand’s Snickerdoodle Cashewmilk will always have a special place in our hearts and stomachs—but when the company debuted its mousse collection in 2018, we hastily made room in our freezer for these 300 to 330 calorie pints. All flavors are luxuriously light and airy, and the silky smooth mousse melts on the tongue bite after bite. Dig your spoon into the Peanut Butter Swirl, Salted Caramel Swirl, and Strawberry Swirl to start. Note: This line used to be available in the US, but now it’s only on the shelves in Canada.

3 Arctic Zero

Coming in as the lightest of the bunch, one pint of non-dairy Arctic Zero contains fewer calories than a single serving of premium full-fat vegan ice cream. Flavors range from 160 to 180 calories per pint. Of the 10 non-dairy flavors, the ones with a chocolate base are our favorite. Get a taste of the Chocolate Peanut Butter and Purely Chocolate first, then venture on to the other flavors—if you can resist your new chocolatey favorite.

4 Frönen

Frönen prides itself on only using ingredients that you can actually recognize, and very few of them, too. Its vegan option, Salted Caramel Swirl, is made from just five ingredients: coconut cream, coconut sugar, water, coconut oil, and Himalayan salt. This is the highest calorie offering on the list, with 630 calories per tub, but one serving contains only 210 calories. Note that while Frönen’s other options are dairy-free, they are sweetened with honey, so they are not vegan.

5 Mud

They might be made without added sugar, but Mud’s dairy-free ice creams do not compromise on flavor. Choose from options like Muddy Monkey, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, and Cookie Dough Chip, but it’s coffee that is the lowest in calories, with only 150 per serving.
